Adrian Tuck, Chief Executive Officer
Adrian has more than 20 years of executive management and leadership experience. As CEO, he focuses on expanding Tendril’s customer base through multiple sales and marketing channels, including alliances with leading companies. Adrian is also the vice-chair of the ZigBee Alliance, an association of companies working together to enable reliable, cost-effective, low-power, wirelessly networked, monitoring and control products based on an open global standard. Prior to Tendril, Adrian served as both interim CEO and executive vice president of Ember Corporation, a leading semiconductor provider to the Smart Grid, where he guided the company’s market strategy through its critical early-growth stage. He received his education at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, the British Army’s prestigious officer training academy.
Tim Enwall, President and Chief Operating Officer
Tim has 18 years of high-tech business management experience. Most recently, he was Vice President and Research Area Director at Gartner, Inc. Prior to Gartner, Tim launched a successful entrepreneurial career founding and serving as Chairman of Solista, an emerging technology advisory firm. Solista grew and opened a European office based in Amsterdam that was part of an eventual acquisition by Gartner. He was also the Founder and a Board Member of Intellocity, an interactive television system software development firm which is now part of OpenTV, the world’s leading interactive TV system software supplier. Tim has held numerous emerging technology management roles at larger companies including Apple Inc. and Lockheed Martin. During his time at Apple, Tim spent six months overseas in Australia managing Apple’s Developer Services. He has also worked with smaller entities including InfoNow and Requisite Technology, where he was involved in product development, customer support, business development, marketing and general management. Tim holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California at Berkeley.
Mark Pougnet, Chief Financial Officer
Mark has more than 25 years of experience in the financial and technology industries. As CFO, he is responsible for driving the day-to-day financial operations and strategic funding initiatives for the company. Prior to joining Tendril, Mark held executive financial positions at several companies in diverse technology industries, including Copan Systems, MPC Computers and Avaya. His experience extends overseas, where he has set up and managed many subsidiaries of US tech companies internationally. He has led multiple highly successful funding rounds and IPOs and has developed lasting relationships with key members of the financial community. Mark holds a master’s degree in accounting and a bachelor’s degree in commerce from the University of Natal in South Africa, and is a Certified Public Accountant.
Tony Bamonti, Vice President of Business Development
Tony has been with Tendril for 3 years overseeing utility sales, strategic business development and industry partnerships. He has over 25 years of executive management, business development and operational experience in early and mid-stage high-tech software and service companies. His expertise encompasses corporate and business development with an emphasis on core strategy conception, technology assessment, new market development and OEM/channel alliances. Prior to joining Tendril, Tony was Senior Vice President at Jabber, Inc., a recognized leader in real-time messaging and collaboration solutions serving multinational and Fortune 500 companies – acquired by Cisco Systems in 2008. His international experience spans most of Western Europe with specific emphasis on France and the UK. He managed customer relationships with companies such as France Telecom, Agip (Italian Oil Company), Portugal Telecom, and Orange and developed business with Ericsson, Siemens and Alcatel. Before joining Jabber, Tony was Vice President of Technical Operations at Vaultus, Inc., an enterprise mobile data software and service provider, and Chief Technology Officer and a founding member of the management team at mobile service provider Wireless Telecom, acquired by Vaultus. Tony also has held business development, product management, and engineering positions at Solbourne Computer, GeoVision Systems and SmartScan Systems. He holds a BA from the University of Colorado, Boulder.
Marcelo Bergquist, Vice President of Operations
Marcelo has a longstanding background in operations management with more than 33 years of experience in management positions in the United States Army, Texas Instruments, Maxtor Corporation and Exabyte Corporation. Most recently, he served as President and Co-Owner of Kramer and Kramer ID, a firm that designs and installs finished commercial and residential spaces, where he was responsible for operations and overseeing all commercial accounts. He has experience in sourcing components, products and manufacturing in the US, Asia, Europe and Latin America and has been developing a worldwide sourcing and distribution network in order to achieve cost leadership in smart grid technology with on-time delivery and world-class quality. Marcelo holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Tulane University, an M.S. in Business Administration from Boston University and an M.S. in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College.
Kent Dickson, Vice President of Engineering
Kent brings more than 19 years of engineering experience to Tendril, where he leads the product architecture, development, quality and on-demand infrastructure efforts. Most recently Kent was Vice President of Engineering at BEA Systems Inc., where he held a number of roles managing Engineering and Product Management functions for some of BEA’s key product platforms. The products that Kent developed at BEA became category leaders in their respective global geographies. Kent was stationed in Argentina to support the global Product Engineering teams spread across North America, South America and Asia. His prior experience includes work as Engineering Manager for Avitek, a start-up Enterprise Java company acquired by BEA, Senior Architect and Project Manager for BDM International Inc and Designer and Junior Architect for Ball Aerospace (a division of Ball Corporation, Inc.). Kent holds a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering and an M.B.A. in Organizational Management from the University of Colorado, Boulder.
Scott Durham, Vice President of Utility Solutions
Scott has spent the past decade in the energy industry and has more than 25 years of sales executive experience. As Vice President of Utility Solutions at Tendril, Scott is charged with building and managing the sales team and executing on the company’s revenue goals and objectives. Previously, he served as Vice President of Strategic Accounts at Elster Integrated Solutions, a smart metering and smart grid systems and solutions provider, where he led the company’s large utility smart grid solution sales team. Scott holds a BS degree in mechanical engineering from the University of California.
Gilbert Shaw, Vice President of Global Development
Gilbert Shaw is an energy management technology veteran with more than a decade of international experience. Co-located between Boulder and Amsterdam, as Vice President of Tendril’s Global Development, Gilbert is responsible for expanding Tendril’s success beyond North America. Prior to Tendril Gilbert served as Itron’s Managing Director for Europe, Middle East and Africa. He also managed Itron’s global Enterprise Energy Management group and managed AMI business development in target European markets. He has start-up venture experience with Silicon Energy Software, which was acquired by Itron in 2003. Gilbert was a strategy consultant for Accenture, where he led new venture and new market entry strategy projects at utilities around the globe. He holds a MBA from London Business School, a law degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a BA from Davidson College, where he was awarded the East Asian Studies Fellowship to Japan. Gilbert remains a licensed attorney.
Cameron Brooks, Senior Director Market Development and Policy Strategy
Cameron has 18 years of marketing and executive management experience in the renewable energy and smart grid industries and is an advocate for policies that protect the environment and encourage investment in clean technologies. At Tendril, he is responsible for spearheading business growth initiatives by providing strategic guidance on smart grid development projects, technology investments and public policy matters. Prior to joining Tendril, Cameron served as the Vice President of Resource Development at Renewable Choice Energy (RCE), a full-service provider of renewable energy credits and carbon offsets, where he structured a development partnership that created the first credit-worthy, long-term sponsorship of a new wind facility. Additionally, he has led multi-state investment and technology collaborations focusing on venture and institutional investor outreach. Cameron graduated magna cum laude from Yale University with a degree in Cultural Ecology and Ecologic Design and received his MBA from Cornell University.
Anita Filip, Senior Director Human Resources and Organizational Development
Anita has over 20 years of experience in Human Capital Management, Organizational Development and Talent Acquisition. Most recently, she led the Human Resources function at LeftHand Networks, a successful IP SAN storage device company, and the HR due diligence effort prior to the successful acquisition of LeftHand to Hewlett-Packard in November 2008. Since 1975, Anita has served technology, manufacturing, IT consulting services, agriculture and consumer products companies holding executive level Human Resources, Talent Acquisition and Consulting Services positions. Domestic companies, as well as companies establishing US operations from Northern Ireland, the United Kingdom, the Pacific Rim, New Zealand to Australia, have selected Ms. Filip to build effective organizational development practices; effective staffing strategies and market-based compensation programs to support accelerated company growth (IPO) and M&A activities. Anita received her education at University of Michigan and Regis University where she studied Economics and Human Resources.
Mike Ruth, Senior Director Product Strategy
Mike has over 20 years of experience as a seasoned start-up entrepreneur at successful, rapid-growth Silicon Valley companies. Mike brings a breadth of international business management and leadership experience to Tendril with a solid background in hardware and software engineering, product development and directing successful worldwide sales, product marketing and strategic marketing efforts and teams. He has held director-level leadership positions at KLA-Tencor, a semiconductor equipment manufacturer, and Wind River Systems, an embedded software and tools company. Under his management, these companies have achieved more than $80 million in revenues from various new product introductions. His work extends overseas where he spent over four years stationed in Asia expanding existing businesses, establishing new revenue streams and building new local organizations. He holds a B.S. in Electronic Engineering Technology from DeVry Institute of Technology in Ohio, and an M.S. in Computer Engineering from Santa Clara University.
Patricia Saunders, Director of Engagement Services
Patricia has 20 years experience in customer communications and education and brings Tendril a breadth of experience in technical and end user support, training, program management, and client communications. For the past 10 years, she has worked with start-up technology companies, focusing on new technology adoption and customer retention. Most recently, she created and managed the education services team at IP Commerce, a software company developing platform technology and developer toolkits. Her startup successes include developing and delivering a customer training program for Freshwater Software (now owned by HP) and creating a vehicle that was instrumental in driving sales and deeper client engagements. Patricia attended University of Vermont, where she majored in English.
