May 21, 2010

This past Tuesday, May 18, Tendril was among a select group of companies invited by the Federal Communications Commission to demonstrate solutions for Home Energy Management and Smart Grid at a Clean Technology Showcase at FCC Headquarters.

Tendril Founder and President Tim Enwall was the first stop for FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski, FERC Chairman Jon Wellinghoff and Secretary of Energy Steven Chu as they met with exhibitors. Tim gave them a quick tour of the Tendril solution, highlighting the newly announced Vision product. The Showcase was a chance for the FCC to draw attention to the kinds of technologies that are included in the National Broadband Plan released in March, which included several important recommendations broadband can help meet the country’s energy and environmental goals.

“This was really a great opportunity to give them a direct look at how the consumer Smart Grid looks today,” reported Cameron Brooks, Tendril’s Senior Director of Policy Strategy, who was also on hand for the event. “The FCC, FERC and DOE all have an important roles going forward, so it was great that they were so engaged in the showcase. We also had the chance to meet with agency and congressional staff. It was a great afternoon.”

The FCC also posted a video of highlights from the showcase.
