Get more control over the grid with Demand Response solutions.

Demand Response is the use of pricing which more closely reflects actual cost to help consumers do the right thing and reduce and/or manage peak load during high cost peak times. Customers can choose to participate in Demand Response programs based on preplanned criteria, such as personal budgets or their environmental stewardship. An effective Demand Response program can minimize the risk of potential disturbances, reduce the peak demand for electricity, increase economic efficiencies, and lower environmental impact for both consumers and energy service providers.

The Tendril Demand Response application, together with the Tendril Connect platform, addresses Demand Response needs and benefits both energy service providers and consumers by:

  • Reducing financial uncertainty for the energy service provider by tying more closely the retail price of electricity to the actual cost of producing that electricity
  • Balancing peak demand to better manage network efficiency
  • Shedding load without causing customer service incidents
  • Supporting Demand Response in the home when electricity prices are used to encourage customers to reduce consumption
  • Works in conjunction with intelligent Home Area Network (HAN) devices and customizable rules
  • Enabling consumers to decide when and how much energy to use

Bring Demand Response into the home with Tendril Energize.

The Tendril Demand Response application with the Tendril Connect platform provides a flexible and unified solution for pricing program options. Energy service providers are then able to develop and market programs according to customers’ needs while allowing consumers to choose their level of participation. The pricing programs have been developed to support and evolve with a variety of pricing structures, including fixed price, time-of-use (TOU), critical peak price (CPP), and real-time price programs.

For variable pricing programs like TOU and CPP, consumers can define price-based rules using the Tendril Energize application suite, thereby tailoring their consumption to prevailing market conditions. For example, consumers can also define rules that will adjust thermostats or temporarily turn off electric water heaters when electricity prices are higher.
