Effectively manage the new distributed grid.
The Tendril Distributed Generation application will maximize an energy service provider’s Distributed Generation management capabilities and enable intelligent grid integration, including net metering, generate-versus-consume decision making, energy storage and electric vehicle optimization. Combined, these solutions help consumers and providers to locally balance supply and demand to reduce costs, increase reliability and help meet renewable portfolio standards in an optimal way.
With the Tendril Distributed Generation application providers will be able to:
- Map and track Distributed Generation as resources on the grid
- Communicate to consumers with important Distributed Generation pricing and control information
- Orchestrate generation and load locally at the home or circuit level to mitigate fluctuations in renewable generation
- Gain near real-time information on Distributed Generation performance and localized net energy offset
With the Tendril Distributed Generation application consumers will be able to:
- Maximize their Distributed Generation investment and environmental benefits
- Enable intelligent grid integration including net metering, generate-versus-consume decision making, energy storage and electric vehicle optimization
- Gain more visibility into home energy consumption through data and analytics
Added control for energy service providers and cost savings for consumers.
The Tendril Distributed Generation application as part of a complete Home Energy Management System can both monitor household demand and surplus power generation and pass this information back to the provider.
Typical Distributed Generation systems include wind turbines, geothermal power and photovoltaic cells that generate varying amounts of power. This independent power generation enables customers to generate and consume their own energy while providing surplus power to the energy service provider. This local generation minimizes line losses and offsets emissions from fossil fuel generation.
The Tendril Distributed Generation application will enable the consumer and energy service provider to jointly access and manage this additional supply, maximizing the positive benefits to the grid and to the consumer.
When combined with the Tendril suite of in-home products, the Distributed Generation application is capable of monitoring and providing a two-way dialogue between the energy service provider and consumer, making it easier to consolidate, process and manage Distributed Generation resources. The Tendril solution can manage complex homes that include Distributed Generation sources and multiple sub-metered loads, such as an electric vehicle, that may have different pricing programs than the whole home. With the Tendril Distributed Generation application, operation of loads can be orchestrated to maximize the benefit to both the energy service provider and the homeowner.
