Create smart energy solutions with your current AMR meters and networks

Many energy providers want to create smart energy programs, but also need to protect and leverage the investments they’ve already made in AMR meters and network systems. With the Tendril Translate meter bridge, energy providers can use their legacy meters to create a smart energy home area network (HAN). The device not only helps extend the lifespan of AMR meters, but also enables a more seamless transition to an AMI solution in the future.

Protect and extend meter investments

The innovative technology of the Tendril Translate accepts data from AMR meters and converts it into information that can be processed by other Tendril smart energy devices. With support for both ERT and Landis+Gyr (Cellnet)-enabled AMR meters, the Tendril Translate can receive and send energy-related data including current consumption information for historical cataloging, registration and diagnostic messaging. The Tendril Translate enables energy providers to:

Integrate smart energy solutions with AMI and AMR meters
Translate a 900MHz AMR radio signal into a 2.4GHz ZigBee® smart energy compliant radio signal
Gain insight into and control over household energy consumption by delivering information via other ZigBee® smart energy devices
Requires minimal or no additional training and support from the energy provider

Built on open standards, the Tendril Translate is designed to be compliant with ZigBee® Smart Energy 1.0 standards and an integral part of an effective Home Area Network (HAN). The Tendril Translate supports ZigBee® Smart Energy 1.0 Simple Metering Cluster attributes, which may be read individually within the HAN, or HAN devices can request that the Translate report those attributes on a specific schedule.
