Smart energy solutions designed to easily scale for full deployments
In a complex, demanding environment such as the Energy Internet, ever-increasing numbers of users, applications and devices interact on a near real-time basis. For energy service providers deploying smart energy solutions, platform scalability is imperative, especially when solutions are moved from pilot to full deployment.

Tendril adheres to modern best practices in designing the Tendril Connect™ platform to scale quickly, both to manage and control in-home devices, as well as to deliver information to consumers via web applications. We leverage the sound architectural principles and knowledge gained from today’s large-scale Internet and communication deployments—specifically in the areas of loose coupling, layered systems and distributed intelligence. These elements are the foundation of the Tendril architecture and are pervasive in all offerings.
Loose coupling. In loose coupling, elements are abstracted into discrete modules that work together to provide a service-oriented architecture. This architecture enables tremendous parallelisms in development and implementations that are a cornerstone of horizontal scalability.
Layered systems. By layering systems, hand-offs are defined and greater modularity is achieved, providing a vertical dimension to scalability.
Distributed intelligence. Distributed intelligence retains a central control over the business rules and defines the conditions that require appropriate actions. These capabilities are distributed to remote devices to take local action, eliminating the master-slave relationship between the host system and the remote devices, while greatly increasing the responsiveness and reducing network traffic.
Tendril also employs specific technology solutions such as virtualization, which provides additional flexibility, efficiency and scale by simplifying deployment and maximizing resource utilization.
