Tendril Hires Industry Veterans to Drive Market Adoption of its TREE Platform and Expand International Presence

Boulder, CO – Tendril, creator of the Tendril Residential Energy Ecosystem (TREE) for utilities, energy retailers and their consumers, today announced the addition of Gilbert Shaw as vice president of  global development and Scott Durham as vice president of utility solutions.  The new executive appointments will play a significant role in executing the strategic expansion of Tendril’s smart grid initiatives in the U.S. and international markets as the company continues its rapid growth.

Shaw is an energy management technology veteran with more than a decade of international experience. Co-located between Boulder and Amsterdam, as vice president of Tendril’s global development, Shaw is responsible for expanding Tendril’s success beyond North America. Prior to Tendril, Gilbert served as Itron’s managing director for EMEA. He also managed Itron’s global Enterprise Energy Management group and AMI business development in target European markets. He has start-up venture experience with Silicon Energy Software, which was acquired by Itron in 2003, and was previously a strategy consultant for Accenture, where he led new venture and new market entry strategy projects at utilities around the globe.

Durham has spent the past decade in the energy industry and has more than 25 years of sales executive experience. As vice president of utility solutions, Durham is charged with building and developing Tendril’s U.S. sales team and executing on Tendril’s vision for the market, meeting company revenue goals and objectives. Previously, he served as vice president of strategic accounts at Elster Integrated Solutions (EIS), a smart metering and smart grid systems and solutions provider, where he led the company’s large utility smart grid solution sales team.

The recent addition of Shaw and Durham to Tendril’s executive team follows on the heels of several major company announcements, underscoring Tendril’s unmatched momentum in the smart grid space. In July 2009, Tendril and GE Consumer & Industrial announced an exclusive joint development agreement to further enhance the communication capabilities of GE’s demand response appliances. Prior to that, Tendril announced it secured $30 million in Series C funding to enable the company to meet increased demand for its TREE Platform and scale its business into expanding markets.
