Utilities

Background

The energy crisis and resulting search for innovative energy conservation solutions is hardly new. Despite the fairly recent worldwide focus on the need for “green” energy alternatives, energy providers, regulators, and consumers have been experimenting with a variety of conservation programs and energy sources for more than 30 years with varying, but limited, success.

The four alternative energy resources – carbon, nuclear, wind, and solar surely garner a lion’s share of the attention on clean energy. Yet not every house can have a solar array on their roof or a wind turbine in their backyard; however, every homeowner can reduce their energy consumption. We believe that empowering the consumer with information and insight will result in energy efficiency and serve the needs of energy providers, regulators, and consumers alike. From that perspective, energy efficiency stands to have the most impact on our impending energy crisis and we see it as the fifth, and most viable, alternative fuel.

The Tendril Solution

Tendril brings 21st century efficiency to the energy industry. Our technology facilitates a dialog between consumers and suppliers through an energy ecosystem that connects in-home devices (like thermostats) to the utility back-office. The Tendril Residential Energy Ecosystem (TREE) enables consumers to better understand their energy consumption patterns and empowers them to make choices regarding their energy usage, which in turn, reduces demand on the grid. TREE allows energy suppliers to establish a deeper relationship with their customers and deploy smart energy conservation programs designed to meet the individual needs of their consumers.
