A Match Made in Energy Management Heaven -

Tendril Acquires EEme

Sometimes you find a technology you just need to have. We found that in EEme, the disaggregation-as-a-service pioneer, which is now part of Tendril.

EEme is unique in that they built a standalone Non-Intrusive Load Monitoring (NILM) technology that really works. In third-party tests and through our own validation work over the past 18 months, we can verify that EEme’s disaggregation technology delivers up to 90% accuracy. This is no small feat considering one of the reasons disaggregation hasn’t taken off is because it can lead to false positives, which erodes customer trust.

What’s even better? Combining EEme’s technology with the deep data analytics of the Tendril Platform will finally unlock the value of appliance-level energy insights. This technology will allow us to improve the personalization of messaging across our High Usage Alerts, Home Energy Reports, Engagement Portals, and other outbound communications. Here is how you might see these insights and recommendations manifest themselves:

  • We can identify EV owners and offer them a TOU rate, as well as send a tip to charge their car during off-peak hours.
  • We will know when HVAC systems aren’t operating efficiently. With this insight, we can send a Home Energy Report that focuses on AC load reduction or provide a rebate on a new HVAC system if the problem persists.
  • We can sense the presence of a pool pump and use our Orchestrated Energy solution to ensure it doesn’t run at the same time as the AC unit, thus avoiding coincident peaks.
